Heart Rock Sushi Fort Lauderdale is a local family owned and operated restaurant nestled in between shopping, beaches and downtown. This is one of our favorite sushi spots and their take on traditional Japanese food with a modern flair is truly something to be experienced. Heart Rock Sushi’s diverse menu serves up something for everyone including sushi, sashimi, Rolls, Japanese noodle dishes and Thai.
What’s great about family owned restaurants is there is usually a distinct service level quality not found in other establishments and there is no exception here. Don’t let the modest exterior of the Fort Lauderdale location fool you. What Heart Rock lacks in curb appeal it makes up for in flavor. From the outside, the restaurant has a look and feel similar to other local Japanese and Thai restaurants, but when you go inside you are welcomed by a thoughtful hostess and a hard working family. The owners take a hands on approach running the business and maintain close relationships with their customers. We like the cozyness of the place and the relaxed atmosphere. This restaurant isn’t trying too hard to be something its not – it is your local authentic family owned restaurant, and that’s exactly what it feels like.
We always start our dining experience with the shrimp dumplings. If you had to predict one thing I will always order at an Asian-style restaurant, you could safely put your money on dumplings, and I can say these shrimp dumplings are TOPS in my book. I love them, I dream about them, and I don’t particularly like to share them so we have to place two orders. We always get a combination of sushi and Thai and are never disappointed.
We have tried lots of main courses and lots of rolls and recommend in particular the Heart Rock roll , the Blue River Roll, the Red Dragon Roll and a combination of the Pad Thai, Chicken Curry, Thai Spring Rolls and Thai Salad with peanut dressing. Also get the fried bananas for dessert with vanilla/coconut ice cream (thank me later). That might seem like a lot to digest, and it is, because you can’t go wrong with anything they have to offer. But don’t take my word it – head over and grab a bite!
Also check out their Lighthouse Point location, it has all the same great food plus a full bar with daily happy hour from 3-7pm.
